Cruisin' for a Reviewsin' is a brand new podcast by me, Cara Westworth, debuting on Monday 26th August 2019. If the name didn't give it away, this is a
Tom Cruise movie reviews podcast where I get a friend to watch a Tom Cruise film they've never seen before and then review it with me.
The idea came about while I was watching the entire filmography of Tom Cruise. Why was I doing that, I hear you ask? Well it was after watching Mission Impossible Fallout at the cinemas that I went from being totally ambivalent about Tom Cruise to a completely obsessed superfan. I'd always been happy to see his new films (so long as they were action or sci-fi) and I did consider him to be a really good actor. But like a lot of people, his religous views and how the tabloids often portrayed him put me off. But Fallout sure changed all of that. I became obsessed very quickly and realised there were quite a few films of his I'd never seen, which I was determined to rectify. Thus began many months of acquiring and watching everything he'd ever starred in. I documented a lot of this journey on my instagram stories where people seemed pretty receptive to my "reviews" so it got me thinking maybe I should do it in a slightly more serious way.
And here we are! My first ever podcast!
Believe it or not, this is not the first or only podcast that reviews his movies. In fact there are two others, both of which are going through his films chronologically (and were also released this year... what are the odds). My podcast will be different because we're reviewing his films in no particular order and they're going to be pretty silly. I like to think of myself as a film buff but I'm admittedly also a film school drop out so there's not going to be a lot of professionalism involved, but I reckon that's half the fun.
You can subscribe to my podcast through a variety of platform including iTunes, Podbean, Stitcher, Spotify, Catbox and Podcast Go. Or you can listen to them on my website here. If there's a platform you use and would like to see me on, feel free to let me know.
